Obituary of Alice F. Lewis

HAINES CITY - Alice F. Lewis, 78, passed away on May 16, 2012, from kidney failure at the Heart of Florida Hospital. Mrs. Lewis was born on September 14, 1933 in Yazoo City, Mississippi, to Daniel Travis Fouché and Lucy Cooke Fouché. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Eddie Eugene Lewis, her son, David Cooke Lewis, and her brothers, Daniel Travis Fouché, Jr. and Phillip Fouché. Mrs. Lewis graduated from Benton High School and Mississippi State University. She married Eddie in 1953, and they moved to Florida in 1965 with their four children. She provided loving care to her children as a homemaker, and then later worked as a school administrative assistant at Haines City Senior High school from 1973 until 1993. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Lake Hamilton. During retirement, Mrs. Lewis enjoyed gardening, church activities, spending time with her family, Rays baseball, and traveling. She was an active member of the Lake Hamilton Women's Club. Mrs. Lewis will be remembered as a caring mother, sister, and grandmother by her surviving family: sons Daniel Irvin Lewis and his wife, Stephany, Thomas Carpenter Lewis and his wife, Mary Ann, and Mark Lewis; sister Mary Frances West and her husband Bob, and brother Lucius Fouché and his wife Patty; grandchildren Amanda Jane Lewis, Juli Anne Silveira and husband Nathan, Thomas Joshua Lewis, Kelly Louise Lewis, Lauren Joanna Lewis, Andrew Travis Lewis, and Mary Catherine Lewis; and great grandchildren Allyson Grace and James William. With deepest adoration, she will be forever cherished as a devoted mother and grandmother, and a blessing of support to those who loved her. Visitation will be Sunday, May 20 from 6-8PM at Oak Ridge Funeral Care Haines City. Funeral Services will be Monday, May 21 at Lake Hamilton Presbyterian Church at 10AM. Interment will follow at Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Lake Hamilton Presbyterian Church.
