Obituary of Thelma Jean Wilson

Thelma Jean Wilson, 78, of Haines City, FL passed away peacefully in her home on January 25th, 2022. Thelma was born on January 26th, 1943, to Walter Owen and Thelma Mae Passmore at Kissimmee Hospital. She was the third born of their children including brothers Bobby and David and sister Lucille. Life took her to a few other temporary places, but her home and her heart was always at her family’s property on Lake Marion Creek Road. Thelma wed David Guy Wilson in 1966 and had three children, Daveen “Dee Dee” Mae, David Guy Jr., and Ralph “Ricky” Frederick. Thelma was a homemaker while David worked as an electrician. After suffering the loss of David in 1976, Thelma founded Wilson’s Feed and Seed. The venture fulfilled a lifelong dream to have her own business. It was her big heart and charitable spirit that led to closing the business a short time later. Thelma then started a career in electronic parts manufacturing. She was a technician for guidance systems in military Blackhawk helicopters until her retirement in 2008. After the birth of her first grandchild in 1986, she became the most beloved Nana. She would go on to have five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She enjoyed taking care of her family and cooking. Thelma was known for being outspoken and steadfast in her beliefs. She was supportive and fiercely loving of her family. Thelma was known for being a friend to all animals. She was regularly followed by a parade of cows, donkeys, pigs, raccoons, squirrels, cats, and dogs all in her care. Most recently, her trusty companion was a blue pitt called Mack. Thelma was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a Baptist Christian. Thelma is preceded in death by her husband David, daughter Dee Dee, both parents, brother David, and sister Lucille. She is survived by her sons David Wilson (Michelle) and Ricky Wilson (Andrea); grandchildren Tashina Knowles (Jeremy), Lauren Cook (Joshua); Jordan Jones (Bobby), Devin Keaton, and Tanner Wilson; great-grandchildren Dylan Clayton, Braden Quattlebaum, Peyton Wilson, River Knowles, and Jackson Jones. She is also survived by many other friends and extended family. There will be no funeral services or events at the wishes of Thelma. However, against her wishes, we will not be “rolling her into the creek to let the gators eat her” – her favorite joke later in life. In a private ceremony with her close family, her ashes will be scattered across the pasture. It is the landscape of her life and still the home to her family that will always hold so many cherished memories. In lieu of flowers, Thelma would appreciate donations made in her honor to an animal shelter. Thelma will be dearly missed and always remembered. 'Just A Closer Walk With Thee' by Patsy Cline I am weak but thou art strong Jesus, keep me from all wrong I'll be satisfied as long As I walk, let me walk close to Thee Just a closer walk with thee Grant it, Jesus, is my plea Daily walking close to thee Let it be, dear Lord, let it be When my feeble life is o'er Time for me shall be no more Guide me gently, safely o'er To thy kingdom's shore, to thy shore When life's sun sinks in the west Lord, may I have done my best May I find sweet peace and rest In that happy home of the blessed Just a closer walk with thee Grant it, Jesus, is my plea Daily walking close to thee Let it be, dear Lord, let it be
