Obituary of Wayne Sexton

J. Wayne Sexton, 74, of Auburndale, FL went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Lakeland Regional Health. Born February 5, 1947 in Winter Haven, FL to L.J. and Esther Mae Ivey Sexton. After the death of his mother in 1949 Wayne was raised by his Aunt Elsie Ivey Shumate and grandparents, Curtis & Sally Ivey. In 1962 he went to live with his Aunt Pearl, Uncle Winfred and sister, Catherine, in Atlanta. Wayne joined the United States Marine Corps in 1965 and served in Vietnam from 1966 – 1967. After leaving the Marine Corps he married his first wife, Deby Anderson. They lived in Rhode Island where he worked as a professional paint and body repairman on automobiles. Wayne, Deby and their son, Seth, moved to Auburndale, FL in 1985 after the completion of their new home where he lived until his death. He was a member of Acts Ministries in Winter Haven, FL and also owned several automobile body shops in Winter Haven, Haines City, and Leesburg. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, first wife, Deby, and a brother, Lamar Sexton. Wayne is survived by: his wife of 24 years, Mary; a son, Seth Sexton and his wife Samantha of Lakeland, FL; step-son, Keevin Albright of Auburndale; two sisters, Dorothy Mills of Theodore, Alabama; and Catherine Fields of Gainesville, GA; his two grandchildren, Emma and Eli Sexton; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
