Obituary of Karen Lynn Walker

The final chapter, entitled The Long Goodbye has come to an end. Karen Lynn (Bradbury) Walker, 80, has stepped off the pages of this life and into her eternal story with Jesus on February 8, 2022. Karen was a third generation native of Haines City, FL. She was born on March 20, 1941 to Ernest and Frances Bradbury, in a two room Florida cracker house on Baker Dairy Road. Her family eventually moved to Lake Marion at the end of Bradbury Road, which was named after her parents. Karen loved to be outdoors and especially loved caring for her animals. Her most cherished pet will always be her horse, Lucky, given to her by her father when she was twelve years old. They played together for 28 years. Karen spoke often of her childhood friends and how they explored the woods around her family farm on horseback. She was known for her passionate devotion to her family. From early on in the marriage, Karen opened her home to many family members, including her sisters-in-law, who loved Karen like their own sister, and most notably her mother, who lived with Bob and Karen for many years. Recently her love for family was demonstrated through the care of her grandchildren- which was given with a fervor and devotion demonstrated by few. To be loved by “Nana” was to be loved by the best! She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Frances. Karen is survived by her devoted husband, of 53 years, Robert C. Walker; son, Frederick M. (Kelly) Walker; daughter, Joni (Clarke) Walker Gerard; brothers, Kenny (Margaret) Bradbury and Karl (Jan) Bradbury; grandchildren, Freddie Walker, Stephanie Johns, Krislynn Creech, Leann Walker, Lauren Walker, Jackson Gerard, Anastasia Gerard, and Natalia Gerard; five great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at NorthRidge Church 2250 Scenic Hwy Haines City, FL 33844.
