Obituary of Nicholas P. Spagnola

Nicholas P. Spagnola, 96, of Winter Haven, FL passed away peacefully at his residence on March 27, 2022.

Born April 11, 1925, in Ansonia, CT , to Francesca and Maria Milardo Spagnola,  He was a longtime resident of Winter Haven and owner of Peoples Furniture in Winter Haven.  He was a Veteran and POW during WWII, serving in the U.S. Army.  During WWI he received the American Campaign Medal, Purple Heart, European, African, and Middle Eastern Campaign Medals, Three Bronze Stars, WWII Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.     He was member of  Ex-POW's,  Florida Furniture Association, American Legion, and Purple Heart Association.

He is preceded in death by:  his parents, three brothers, Melo Sampiere, Joseph Sampiere and Salvatore Sampiere; and  two sisters, Ann Bonfanti and Antoinette Francini.

He is survived by a son Frank Spagnola of Winter Haven; a daughter, Mary Gagne and her husband Steve of Tallahassee, FL; grandchildren, Austin Spagnola, Dylan Spagnola,  Christopher Gagne, Amanda Boccio and husband Michael and Kelli Gagne; many nieces and nephews; and a longtime caregiver, Joyce Dane.

The family will receive friends from 10:30am till 11:00am, Thursday, March 31, 2022 in the St. Joseph Catholic Church Chapel in Winter Haven.  A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00am  Interment will be at Mount St. Peters Cemetery in Derby, CT.  In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations in his name to the Humane Society or St. Vincent DePaul Society.
