Obituary of Virginia Levins

The Virginia I Knew ~ Shirley Jarriel

Icelia Virginia Levins was reunited with her husband, Harry Levins, in heaven on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 after enjoying a long, wonderful life. Known as Virginia by some, Ginnie, Aunt Ginnie, and Gin by others, she was always glad to hear from her family by phone or in person. Nothing made her happier than to have as many friends and family members as she could invite, into her home for a meal. She was a great cook and loved to make special treats. She was especially famous for her datenut balls that she made as gifts every Christmas (with a little help from son, Michael and her friend, Barbara in her latter years). Virginia was a self-educated woman who worked hard at any of the many positions she held at various companies, even rising to the position of Controller at a large company in the Atlanta area, where they lived for several years. During the time they lived in Tallahassee, she and Harry became rabid Seminole fans with season tickets, enjoying tailgating and never missing a game for many years. As a Levins family member, she learned early on how to make the amazing fried “Levins cornbread” which her brother, Bill, called “Salerno bread” because it was a delicious staple during their many trips to Salerno for fishing vacations. Virginia loved to fish and was usually in the boat anytime Harry was ready to go. She and Harry renovated and restored numerous homes in Tallahassee, Cumming and Gainesvile, Georgia. A talented interior (and exterior) designer/decorator, their homes were always beautifully appointed with antiques and other ‘finds’ from her favorite places. I still love all the things she did at our house, stencilling, painting, even the mailbox has her signature. But most importantly, she loved her Lord and served Him faithfully. Never one to mince words, she had no problem telling others about Jesus anytime the opportunity presented itself. She has fought a good fight and finished the course. I am sure she heard Jesus say, “well done, good and faithful servant”, when she entered the gates of That City where her loved ones welcomed her with open arms and she saw the face of her Savior. I can hardly wait for that glad reunion day that she has already experienced. Come, Lord Jesus!
