Obituary of Josefina G. Castillo

Josefina “Josie” G. Castillo, 65, of Haines City passed away on May 22, 2022. She was born on July 18, 1956 in Fabens, Texas to Manuel B. and Grace Torres Gonzalez and moved to Haines City in the early 1970’s from Texas.

Josie enjoyed to garden and grow her flowers and plants, it has been said that she had a true “green thumb.” She also had a love for music; either listening to it, trying to sing along with it, but mainly dancing to the beat, and she was always happy with a scratch off lottery ticket in her hands. Josie was known for her outgoing personality, she was very family oriented and loved being the host of her family’s gatherings where she would always be cooking on the grill, a tradition that will be carried on with her daughter.

Josie was predeceased by her parents, Manuel and Grace, as well as brothers Fernando Gonzalez and Raul Gonzalez. She is survived by her loving husband, of 47 years and her true love, Hector A. Castillo, Sr.; daughter, Nancy Castillo and her husband, Pedro Robles of Eagle Lake, FL; son, Hector Joseph Castillo, Jr and his wife, Petra Rodriguez of Haines City; siblings, Jamie Gonzalez and her domestic partner, Bridget Zalesak of Cape Coral, FL, Juan Gonzalez and his wife, Johana, Ricardo Gonzalez, Alberto Gonzalez, Manuel Gonzalez, Jr. all of Haines City and Estella Ramirez and her husband, Joel of Winter Haven, FL; as well as grandchildren, Sebrina Ramos, Adrianna Robles, Lilianna Robles, Nathan Castillo and Estreya Castillo.

A visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City. The funeral mass will be Monday, May 30, 2022 at 11:00 am at St Ann Catholic Church, Haines City.
