Obituary of Ellen Joanne Witkowski Settle

Ellen Joanne Jacobs Witkowski Settle, 85, of Lakeland, Florida passed away on May 24, 2022 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. She was born on February 16, 1937 in Oswego, New York to Hugh and Josephine Ditzer Jacobs. Ellen worked as a teacher for 30 years in New York until her retirement. She moved to Florida in 1994 from Oswego, NY and she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lakeland, Florida.  

Ellen was known for her willingness to always help others no matter what and she became involved by serving as a volunteer and board member at the First Presbyterian Church in Lakeland, Florida. Ellen enjoyed spending time with her friend and cooking. In fact, it was said that she was a great cook. She will be remembered by her friend Joyce, as a sweet and independent woman.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Norman K. Settle. Ellen is survived by her good friend, Joyce Trafton whom she considered more like a sister.
