Britta Jarndal

Obituary of Britta Jarndal

It is with great sadness that the family of Britta Jarndal, (“BJ”, “Bean”) announce her passing in Winter Haven, Florida on May 31st, 2022. Britta was born to Grethe and Poul Jarndal, in Havnsoe, Denmark on January 22, 1931 where she grew up by the sea and later in Copenhagen. She had a sister Jette who was 13 years younger, whom she loved and cared for.

Britta was a dedicated student. After graduation she studied interior design and began a successful business in the field of design. She used her skills to design and build several beautiful homes. She was very industrious. She was an avid golfer, tennis player and excelled in water-skiing, performing in many shows. She was a well known Danish model and the most photographed Dane in 1960. When the Danish queen Ingrid needed a new gown, Britta would be requested for the showing.

After settling in Winter Haven with her husband, Jeppe Boel, and their much loved daughter Fleur Boel, she became a successful citrus grower and was an active member of the citrus growers association. Britta was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and the Gardenia Garden Club in Winter Haven. Britta later married attorney Roy Summerlin with whom she shared many years.
Sadly, Britta lost her adult daughter Fleur, the greatest joy and love in her life, much too early, a loss she never got over but carried admiringly on her shoulders for the remainder of her life. She also lost her younger sister Jette much too early, a great sorrow to her.
Britta’s loving and mothering nature made it natural for her to care for her two nieces Lara and Jane all through their lives. When Jette had an accident when the children were little, Britta cared for them as her own - and it has been that way ever since creating a wonderful relationship with many lovely memories. Much joy also came with Britta’s grand niece and nephew, Flora 7 and Olav 4, Jane’s children, who simply adored Britta. Britta was as well survived by her brother in law Hans and her nephew Frederik.

Britta was a very special lady and had many wonderful friends who would go above and beyond for her, and she for them. Just to mention a few important names: Paul and Birgit, Ingrid, Gwen, Brenda and Don, Dolores and Aris, Charles, Bob and Sabina, Gizelle, Patricia, Linda and our angel Mary who has been lovingly by her side, caring and devoted.
At Waters Edge: Kwanza, Sheryl, Nancy, Violene, Faye, Arlene, Yvonne, Marie, Jasette, Shareen, Lorie Ann, Lisa, Catherine, Shirley, Kortney and Annette. At Senior Solutions: Shannah and Jen.
At Vitas Hospice Britta was cared for by angels on earth surrounding her with love, especially: Peggy, Manouchka, Rebecca, Niki, Rosemary and Ann Sandy. It is not possible to mention and thank everyone for the amazing great friendship and kindness shown to Britta.

In the end, she had her closest family at her side who will always carry her in their hearts and look to the stars. She has been a great inspiration to so many people. Britta will be sadly missed by family and friends and lovingly remembered. Britta wished to be cremated and her ashes scattered together with her daughter’s ashes in the Gulf of Mexico. A celebration of Britta’s life will be held at a later time and announced to family and friends.
