Obituary of Larry Gore
Larry Gore, 79, of Haines City, FL passed away on June 17, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 27, 1943 in Avon Park, Florida to William Ernest and Victoria Fordham Gore. Larry was a proud veteran of the US Army and worked as a project manager for 25 years for Earl May Garden Center in Shenandoah, IA, and after retiring in 2005, he moved to Haines City, FL. Larry was a member of the Elks Club in Shenandoah, as well as a chairman of the golf committee and architectural committee chairman at the Lake Henry Estates and led the annual Christmas golf cart parade at Hartland Estates in Florida.
He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, camping, boating, golfing, and traveling. Larry was the “grill master” and loved cooking for his friends and family, especially those recipes that he “had in his head” so he could make them for his family. Larry also loved a good card game too. It was said that he was a friendly man, who would make friends in an instant. Mostly making long-lasting friendships throughout his lifetime, which truly reflects his caring nature. Larry was passionate about his beliefs, and had no filter about sharing them. Larry loved life! Always wanting to plan the next adventure.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents and first wife, of 40 years, Gayle. He is survived by his loving wife, of 13 years, Beverly June Brooks Gore; son, Kevin Wayne (Dawn) Gore of Cedar Creek, NE; daughter, Dawn (Peter) McGahey and their kids Ella and Will of Morgantown, WV; stepson, Tommy (Cindi) Brooks and their 3 daughters and 1 great granddaughter all of NC; stepdaughter, Lisa (Todd) Nesbit and their 2 children, all of them of Mooresville, NC; sister, Susan (Roger) Gurganus of Avon Park, FL; and many nieces, nephews and devoted friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, June 20, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Central Church of Christ in Haines City, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to the American Cancer Society.
