Obituary of Helen King

Helen E. Thornhill King, 95, of Winter Haven, Florida, died on Sunday, August 21, 2022, at Astoria Health and Rehabilitation Center, Winter Haven.

Helen was born June 27, 1927, in Eagle Lake, Florida, a daughter of Newell B. and Allie Freeman Thornhill.  After the death of her mother Allie when Helen was five years old, Helen was raised by her father and loving step-mother Mildred.

She married Glenn B. Motsinger, Sr. on November 18, 1945.  He died April 14, 1956.  She later married Arthur Chris King on December 22, 1973.  He died June 28, 1996.

Helen graduated from Winter Haven High School in 1945.  She worked in data processing and banking for over 30 years, retiring from Sun Trust Bank, Tampa, Florida.  She was also a member of the Eagle Lake Church of Christ, Eagle Lake, Florida.

In addition to her two husbands, Helen was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Conley Thornhill and Thomas Thornhill.

Survivors include one son, Glenn B. Motsinger, Jr. (Marie) of Chicago; one granddaughter, Meredith Motsinger Brody (John) of Frankfort, Illinois; and two great-granddaughters, Emma and Carlie Brody of Frankfort, Illinois.  In addition, Helen is survived by one sister--Erma Jean Lloyd of Winter Haven; and five brothers--Newell B. Thornhill, Jr. of Ormand Beach, Florida; James Thornhill of Eagle Lake; William Thornhill of Eagle Lake; Charles Thornhill of Winter Haven; and Richard Thornhill of Dallas, Texas.

The family will receive friends from 12:00pm till 1:00pm, Thursday, Aug. 25, 2022, at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Winter Haven.  Funeral Services will follow at 1:00pm with interment at Lakeside Memorial Park.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Eagle Lake Church of Christ.
