Obituary of James "Jim" Hicks

James “Jim” Thomas Hicks, 79, of Winter Haven, FL passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at Lake Wales Medical Center.

Born April 27, 1943, to Alton and Irene Ashley Hicks, he was a lifelong resident of Winter Haven.  A member of Westside Baptist Church in Haines City, he retired from Greenwood Chevrolet in Fort Meade in 2015.

Loved by family and friends, Jim was an avid follower of NASCAR, and more recently antique red tractors. He always said, “if your blood’s red, your tractor ought to be red”.

He is preceded in death by his parents Alton and Irene Hicks.

He is survived by his wife Sandra; three daughters, Robin Hicks Nunley and her husband, Paul; Kara Hicks Glover and her husband Danny; and Kasie Hicks Cabrera and her husband Raul; a son, Ryon Hicks and his wife Dana; thirteen grandchildren, Jessica Jeter, Ashley Connors, Amber Cabrera, Aaron Cabrera, Brittany Curry, Kelsey McDonald, Austin Hicks, Justin Sappington, Colton Hicks, Eli Cabrera and Jacob Glover, Ty Simmons and Jacob Smith; and twelve great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5:00pm till 7:00pm, Thursday, November 3, 2022, at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Winter Haven.  Funeral services will be at 11:00am, Friday, November 4, 2022 in the funeral home chapel.  Interment will follow at Rolling Hills Cemetery.
