Obituary of Julia J. Greene

Julia J. Greene, 91, formerly of Haines City, passed away peacefully, Sunday, November 13, 2022. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Harry, and brothers Toni, Robert, Wilbur, Fred and Edward, and sister Clara. She is survived by her sister Mintie Fulks (Maysel, WV); children Linda Rusciano (Michael); Richard (Jane); and Robert (Elzbieta); grandsons David, Robert (Cybelle), and Harry; and great-granddaughter Sadie.

Julia was born in West Virginia, June 28, 1931 to Newton Parrish Johnson and Gertrude Ackermann Johnson, both deceased. She graduated from Temple University in 1953 and immediately moved to Florida to marry the love of her life. She was a teacher in Orange County for 33 years at Zellwood, Apopka, Lovell, Dillard Street, Tildenville, and Mollie Ray Elementary schools.

Julia was an avid Florida Gator fan and loved to travel the world with friends and family. After retiring, she was active in the Florida Retired Educators Association serving terms as President of the Orange County chapter and Cultural Affairs Chair at both the local and state levels. She also served as Treasurer of Inner Wheel USA in Haines City for more than ten years.

The family will be receiving friends at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, 1001 Grace Ave. Haines City, FL, on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 10 a.m. and a memorial service at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Inner Wheel USA Foundation or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
