
Obituary of Kim Karen Obremski Shelton
Kim Karen Obremski Shelton was born December 19, 1955, in Gary, IN and died at her home November 18, 2022, in Winter Haven, FL. She graduated from New Albany High School in 1974, Ball State College in 1978, and received her Masters in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University at Fischler College of Education in 2000.
Kim recently retired from Polk County Schools after over thirty years teaching. She taught Exceptional Student Education at Westwood Middle School, Brigham Elementary and Bartow High School. She also taught at Inwood Elementary and Winter Haven High School. And was Assistant Principal at Dundee Elementary, Frostproof Elementary, Auburndale Central Elementary and Lake Alfred Elementary. She loved and was proud of her last years of teaching at Winter Haven High School and the accomplishments of her students as they successfully worked to pass the ACT test for graduation.
Kim had a strong faith in God and was a member of The River Church of Tampa and an avid UF Gator fan. She loved spending time at Anna Maria Island beach.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Terry Shelton, father, Walter Obremski and mother, Mary Obremski Buckel, a brother, Russell Obremski and sister Cyndi Obremski Emily.
She is survived by her siblings Sheila Bliss, Jeffersonville, IN., Lorna Hoeppner, New Albany, IN, Billie Olson, Sellersburg, IN., John Buckel, New Albany, IN.: Stepdaughter Stacia Shelton Feile, TN., Stepson Terron Shelton, Lakeland, FL. and step grandchildren Michael and Daniel Feile, Christian .
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am till 11:00 am,Saturday, January 21,2023 followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00am in the Oak Ridge Funeral Care Chapel.
