



Obituary of Peggy O'Gwynn Graham
Peggy Jean O'Gwynn Graham passed away peacefully at the age of 94 in Haines City, Florida, on December 4, 2022. Peggy was born on October 19, 1928 in Meridian, Mississippi, to Holden O'Gwynn (1883-1933) and Beulah Haguewood O'Gwynn (1888-1986), the 9th of 10 children. Peggy was reared in Meridian and later moved to Washington, DC with her beloved sisters and Mother to work as a negative engraver (journeyman) making military maps for the Army Map Service, which was at the time the military cartographic agency of the United States Department of Defense. In Washington, Peggy met and married James "Jim" Graham and they moved to Haines City, Florida, where they owned and operated Sinclair, Center State and Big Bear Service Stations, and reared their four children. She and Jim later divorced. Peggy was a clinical pharmacy technician at Humana Hospital in Kissimmee Florida until her retirement in 1998. Peggy received her Associate in Arts degree in Liberal Arts on May 6, 1995 from Polk Community College (now Polk State College), Winter Haven, FL. Peggy was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church and then First Presbyterian Church, where she was known for her enduring faith. She was proud of her Irish heritage. Peggy was a member of the League of Women Voters of Polk County, FL, where she indulged her love of country, politics and current events. But mostly Peggy loved spending time with her family, of whom she was immensely proud. The world is a much better place for having Peggy in it and her spirit endures through the legacy she leaves behind. Peggy was predeceased by her parents and 8 of her 9 brothers and sisters. Peggy is survived by her beloved sister Mildred O'Gwynn Hollingsworth of Silver Spring, Maryland, and beloved sister-in-law Evelyn Callaway O'Gwynn of Hernando, Florida; her four children, Sandra Graham Sheets (Sam), Dr. Gwyndolyn Graham Crittenden (Kent), Jima Graham Famularo (Joe), and Jana Graham Ingram; her 13 grandchildren, Lemuel Baylis Carnes V (Kelsey), Lea Anne Crittenden, Emily Crain Evans (Bob), Alexandra Crittenden Manning (Mike), Michael Holden Ingram, Joseph Holden Carnes (Jamie), Priscilla Carnes Covington, Kelly Jean Crittenden, Victoria Anne Sheets, Samuel Gale Sheets (Cori), Mary Katheryn Ingram, Catherine Graham Sheets, and Savannah Summer Nicole Valentine; and her 9 great grandchildren, Alexander, Jayden, Caleb, Chandler, Alaina Jo, Easton, Holden, Madison & Graham; and many beloved nieces and nephews, grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. A service will be held to celebrate Peggy's life at First Presbyterian Church, Haines City, FL, with the Reverend Danny Chandler officiating at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 10, 2022. Burial services will follow at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery, Gainesville, FL.
