Obituary of Porfiris "Porf" Porfiriadis II
Porfiris “Porf” Porfiriadis II, 68, of Davenport, Florida passed away on January 20, 2023 at the Moffit Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida. He was born on May 3, 1954 in Jamaica, New York to Nicolaos and Elizabeth “Colette” Bourgouin Porfiriadis. Porfiris proudly served our country in the United States Navy for 24 years with a Chief rank. Upon his honorable discharge, he received multiple decorations like the Navy Good Conduct Medal (5), the Navy Achievement Medal (2), the Armed Forced Reserve Medal, the .45 Cal Expert, the National Defense Service Medal, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, the Navy “E” Ribbon (2), the Meritorious Unit Commendation, and the Navy Unit Commendation. After his retirement from the U.S.Navy he started a new career working as a mail handler for the USPS for 17 years. He was of the Greek Orthodox faith.
Porfiris enjoyed electronics, especially computers, exploring and sharing his family history through genealogy, astronomy and collecting US Navy Sailors Challenge Coins. He loved traveling around the world and making friends. Porfiris was a very sociable, loving and caring man, who will be truly missed by all who met him.
Porfiris is preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Nicolas Porfiriadis. He is survived by his loving wife, of 16 years, Linda K. Prato of Davenport, FL; daughter, Adrianne Porfiriadis of Winter Haven, FL; son, Porfiris Porfiriadis Jr. of Winter Haven, FL; and grandson, Alexander Porfiriadis.
A visitation will be held on Monday, January 30, 2023 at 10:00 am followed by a funeral service with military honors at 11:00 am all at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Haines City, Florida.
