Obituary of Minnie Lou Murdock

MURDOCK, Minnie Lou (Morrison) age 88 went to be with Jesus on Saturday, March 18, 2023. She was born to D.L. and Bertha (Griffin) Morrison on November 11, 1934 in Morven GA. Minnie Lou was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She had many talents including sewing, cooking, and plants. She could root and grow anything. She was always intrigued with the new colors of Purslane! She loved her family fiercely and enjoyed spending time with them camping and mullet fishing during Thanksgiving at Spring Creek. She always looked forward to the big gatherings on the farm to celebrate Easter. She married her sweetheart, James E Murdock on March 3, 1951 and soon after they moved to Intercession City,Florida. Spending 60 years with him before his passing. 1972 they became members of Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church. Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlette Ann Murdock, a son James E Murdock Jr, and a great granddaughter Addie Sherrod. Also preceding her in death are siblings, Angus Morrison, Jeannie Bennett, and Elaine Hayes. Her surviving children are Cathy Reynolds (Steve) and Glen Murdock (Rita) of Davenport, FL, Cindie Bennett (Jeffrey) of Alabama. Her surviving grandchildren are Keith and James Ory Reynolds, Hannah Koon, Ethan Murdock, Quentin Rowe, Channing Pearce, Mackenzie Boughton, Dawson Sherrod, and 13 great grandchildren. Minnie Lou’s surviving siblings are Danny, Allen, and Andy Morrison, Sarah Stanaland, Eleanor Bramblett, and sister-in-law Barbara Morrison. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, 1001 Grace Ave E, Haines City, FL. Visitation will be at 12:00 noon and the funeral will follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, 1917 County Rd 547 N, Davenport, FL
