Obituary of Katrina Kathleen Kirkland

Katrina Kathleen Kirkland, 64, of Lakeland, FL passed away on March 29, 2023 peacefully at Good Shepherd Hospice House with her children by her side. Katrina was born in Key West, FL on March 15, 1959 and graduated from Kathleen High School in 1977. She went to the areas, technical school where she became a phlebotomist.

Katrina loved her friends and family. She was always nice to everyone and always wanted to help if she could. She was a Nana to her 7 grandkids and 5 great grandkids. She wanted nothing more than to be surrounded by her family and friends and when she became sick and needed to have care at home, friends and family from her neighborhood worked together to help provide her care. Katrina loved to cook and was especially good at cooking Potato Stew and Meatloaf. No one could make either dish quite like her. Katrina also loved Country Music and playing Word Trip on her phone. She loved getting dressed and walk. And goodness could she walk. She would get them short legs a goin’, and she would walk all over town. Everyone knew Katrina as “Nana” and she was a best friend to many.

Katrina is preceded in death by her grandson, Tallond Edward Glen Stephenson, who was 6 weeks old when he passed away from SIDS, and her ex-husband, Ronel Edward Kirkland, who was 59 when he passed away from COPD. Katrina is survived by children, Frieda (Beth) Curry of Lakeland, FL, Ronel (Ronnie) Kirkland of Lakeland, FL, Carroll (CJ) Kirkland of Lakeland, FL; her grandchildren, Matthew (Tyler) Stephenson and wife, Katie Stephenson of Bonifay, FL, Alexis (Lex) Young of Defuniak Springs, FL, Randall (Nin) Young and fiancé, Diana Bowers of Defuniak Springs, FL, Savanna (Vanna) Paul of Lakeland, FL, Kaylin (Pretty Girl) Kirklnd of Auburndale, FL, Caiden (Poo Poo Bill) Kirkland of Lakeland, FL; her parents Sarah and Harvey Sewell of Westville, FL and her fiancé of 10 years, Jack Bryson of Lakeland, FL. Katrina has 5 great grandkids, Aiden 5, Xander 3, Roseanne 2, Jayce 2, and Mia 7 months.

We will be having a celebration of life service and a fellowship meal on April 15, 2023 at Westside Park in Lakeland at 3 pm. We are asking that everyone bring a covered dish and invite everyone that knew “Nana” to Join us.
