Obituary of Mary "Darlene" Macchione

Mary “Darlene” Macchione left us on April 24th, 2023 to be with her Lord and Savior at 73.

Darlene was a classy, southern belle who also had a passion for the outdoors growing up in Polk County. She loved her family, cooking, music, and dancing. Her beautiful smile lit up the room along with her gorgeous baby blue eyes. She never met a stranger and always ensured you were well fed. You could catch her constantly listening to eclectic music and dancing throughout the house.

Darlene was preceded by her parents: Lowndes and Susie Knowles, brother: Leroy Knowles, sisters: Doris Henderson and Margie Feagle.

She is survived by her loving husband, John Macchione; children, Susan (Mike) Barnes, Christy (Richard) Caldwell-Shaw, Cassie (Ryan) Moore; grandchildren: Ethan and Rhema Barnes; Adahlia, Thomas and Evangeline Moore; and Cora Wilson, two brothers: Wally and Walter Knowles, three sisters: Louise Wagman, Evelyn Herndon, Charlotte Applegeet who will miss her deeply.

To honor Darlene’s memory, we are holding a celebration of life for friends and family on Saturday, May 6 from 2-4 pm, service will be at 3 pm at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Haines City.
