Obituary of Peter H. Dreiss

Peter H. Dreiss, 80, of Winter Haven, FL passed away on June 23, 2023 at his residence next to his loving wife. He was born on January 17, 1943 in Queens, NY to Frank, Sr. and Anna Rita Wetzel Dreiss. Peter was a proud veteran who served in the US Navy for 6 years, moved to Florida on April 1999 from Brooklyn, NY and he worked for Gaylord Palms Resort for 12 years and 25 years for the InterContinental Hotel. Peter was a member of the St. Patrick’s Cathedral Choir in Manhattan, NY.

Peter was a professional baseball umpire and a basketball referee. He enjoyed singing and was very active in the community fairs. Peter was known for always wanting to help others without expecting anything in return and it was said he was a very reliable person.

Peter is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Philip C. Dreiss. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife, of 31 years, Nancy Dreiss; and brother, Frank Dreiss of Queens, NY.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023 at 11:00 am. at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Haines City. The family will be receiving friends at 10:00 am.
