Obituary of Doris M. Williamson

Doris M. Williamson, 88, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2023, in Davenport, Florida. Doris was born in Washington, DC to her parents, LeRoy and Elsie Schwier. She had one older sibling, Roy Schwier. Her parents made a huge impact on her life with the importance of family, education, faith and career.

Doris made sure her family was always of importance. She sacrificed to make sure their needs were met. She instilled her values in her children, Yvonne Baumann, Stanley D.R. Williamson, Andrew L.B. Williamson and Margaret M. Tidwell. Her children passed those values to their children. Doris has two grandsons, James D. Baumann and John A. Baumann and one granddaughter, Elissa Tidwell and several great grandchildren.

Doris took education seriously and graduated from nursing school. She let that career go to raise her family, but continued working as a bus driver, co-business and business owner of a gift shop. She was the co-owner of Miller Lock & Key.

Doris always was active in the schools, community and church. She was a leader for the Brownies for the Girl Scouts of America, worked community events and was a member of the Haines City Downtown Business Association. She wrote articles for the local newspapers and wrote short stories.

She was very active in the St. Mark’s Episcopal Church for years. She played piano and guitar for the kid’s church Sunday school as well as taught in the classroom. She was active in the Daughters of the King and the Evening E.C.W. She had many friends within the church and community.

Doris lived a long and honorable life. She will be missed, but Heaven has gained an Angel. We all love you and this isn’t goodbye, this is until we see you again. We are celebrating your life Doris, Love you always.

A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday, July 15, 2023, from 1:00 pm until the celebration of life service at 2:00 pm, all at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City.
