Obituary of Kay Frances Thomas

Kay Frances Thomas was born December 15, 1936  to the late Fred and Willie Mae Marshall, in Detroit, Michigan. She passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at St. Joseph Hospital in Tampa, Florida. Her brothers; Walter, Wilbur, Henry and sisters Shirley, Mary and Bernice preceded her death.

Kay was educated in the Detroit Public school system.  She married William Arthur Thomas, Sr, (preceded her in death) who joined the Air Force and served oversees in Morocco, Greece, Japan and Taiwan as well as bases within the U.S.   After retirement from military life, she settled in Columbus, Ohio and was employed and retired from (DFAS) Defense Finance and Accounting Services as an accountant.

She enjoyed traveling, shopping and loved to debate the political issues of the day.

She leaves to celebrate her home going one daughter, Cristal L. Penn; one son William A. Thomas Jr; grandson Antoine M. Penn (Jasmine); grandchildren, Xavier Luckey, Jamir Penn, Tyrus Luckey, Antoine Penn Jr, Jazzie Penn; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family wishes to acknowledge with appreciation the many comforting messages at this time.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the National Urban League, NAACP or the Alzheimer’s Society in honor of the deceased.
