



Obituary of Jacquelyn S. Henderson
Jacquelyn S. Henderson, 67, of Lake Wales, FL, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2023. Born on May 9, 1956, in Bowling Green, OH, she was the beloved daughter of Fred Wires and Barbara Wolfe, lovingly adopted by Ralph and Lona Wolfe. She made Lake Wales her home after residing in Michigan, Lakeland, FL, and Lake Hamilton, FL. Jacquelyn was a longtime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Haines City and most recently a devoted member of the Lake Wales ward. She served as a program director for over a decade at TriCounty Health & Human Services in Lakeland, FL, impacting countless lives through her work. Later, she dedicated three+ years as a Grant Writer for the Polk County Board of County Commissioners before officially retiring in 2021.
Jacquelyn loved sewing, reading, playing/listening to music, baking, and cross-stitching. She was known for her fun, caring, and kind personality. She deeply loved her family and was always eager to help her community, especially homeless individuals. Her warm and giving spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew her, and she will be fondly remembered for her dedication, and lasting contributions to the community she loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her adopted parents; her beloved husband, Eldridge Henderson; and sister, Nancy Wolfe. Jacquelyn leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Melissa Leighton and husband, Todd of Lake Wales, FL; son, Stephen Henderson of Lake Hamilton, FL; brother, David Wolfe and wife, Georgia of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Leeanne Stringer and husband, Reid of Swartz Creek, MI; grandchildren, Kayla Bernier and husband, Neil, Sarah Sample and husband, Justin, Andrea Gaiser and Conner Gaiser; great grandchildren, Ava Rose & Dax Richard.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at 9:30 am followed by a funeral service at 10:30 am all at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 1024 Burns Ave, Lake Wales, FL 33853. Final resting place will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Haines City, FL.
