Obituary of Richard Neal Freiberg

Richard Neal Freiberg of Winter Haven, Florida, went home to be with the Lord early Wednesday, September 6, 2023. He was surrounded by his loving and devoted family. 

Richard was born in Detroit, Michigan, on May 25, 1935, to Martha (Wooley) Freiberg and Arthur Carl Freiberg. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of nearly twenty-seven years, Edna Robinson Lester-Freiberg; two sons, Richard Kurt Freiberg and Steven Glen Freiberg; and three brothers, Carl Freiberg, Jerry Freiberg, and Donald Freiberg. 

Survivors include his son, Clifford Britt Freiberg (Nancy); stepchildren, Lynne Lester Wise, Jovet Lester Mitchell, Steven Lester, and Becky Lester Chichetto, along with their spouses, children, and grandchildren. 

Richard graduated from Southeastern High School, Class of 1954, and served in the Army, attaining the rank of Corporal. During his young life, he worked as a veterinary assistant and a salesman with Thom McAn Shoe Store. He worked with Publix during his retirement years. He is best known for his successful business in designing and building special ordered aquariums, which he worked with his sons and their mother Joanne. He loved and collected music of different genres and eras and often made playlists for friends. 

Richard and his wife Edna enjoyed traveling. One special trip, a family trip to Europe, continues to be a favorite family memory. Richard was a member of Parkland Baptist Church, Winter Haven, Florida. 

Arrangements are entrusted to Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Winter Haven. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 15 at 2:00 pm at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Winter Haven. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to George C Forsythe Hospice House, also known as Good Shepard Hospice House of Auburndale, Florida.
