Obituary of Christy Lynn Denaco

Christy Lynn Denaco, 54, of Lakeland, FL passed away on Monday , September 11, 2023. She was born on August 28, 1969 in Phoenix, AZ. She grew up in Maurepas, LA and moved to Pensacola, FL in her senior year of high school. She moved to Lakeland, FL over 30 years ago and has lived out her life there since.

She was married to Jonathan Denaco (JD) for 15 years and is survived by her two children, Austin Johnson, 32, and Lauren Johnson, 31.

She had a large family that cared deeply for her. Three sisters - Joella Galvan, Tonya Martin and Alentina Washburn; One brother - Joseph Holokan; 3 nephews, 8 nieces, 4 great nephews and 8 great nieces.

If you asked her what her greatest accomplishment was, she would always say it was raising her two beautiful, brilliant children. She loved watching them grow up into adults and seeing them succeed.

Christy was the brightest light in any room she walked in. She had the biggest heart and would always fill the room with laughter and smiles.  She was also the most hard-headed, stubborn woman you’d ever meet and not a soul in this world could convince her not to do something she had already decided to do.

She grew up fishing and playing in the swamps. She always found peace sitting along the bank and casting her line into the water. When she wasn’t fishing, she was spending her time looking for new ways to personalize her Jeep and was an avid member of the Florida Girl Jeep Club.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at the Links of Sandpiper - 6001 Sandpipers Dr, Lakeland FL 33809. The event will be held from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
