Obituary of Nell O'Neal

Mrs. Nell O’Neal, of Davenport, Florida passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at the age of 79 years old. She was born on June 22, 1944, in Blakely, Georgia to Colson Alfonso and Essie Mae Woodard Hayes. Nell moved with her family to Haines City, Florida as an infant that same year. It was there that she was raised and graduated from Haines City High School. After getting married and starting her own family she moved to Davenport, Florida in 1979.

Nell loved her family and enjoyed being a homemaker and taking care of her family. In 1988 she went to work for McLane’s Distribution in Kissimmee, Florida and retired after 22 years of service. Nell was a former member of Eastside Baptist Church in Haines City and has been attending Central Baptist Church in Winter Haven, Florida. She enjoyed doing gardening and going shopping, but her joy was spending time with her family and friends. Nell will always be remembered as a woman who put others before herself.

She was predeceased by her parents, Colson and Essie Mae, and her companion, Mack Carver. Nell is survived by her son, Mark O’Neal and his wife, Mindy of Debary, Florida and their family, Rhaiannon O’Neal, Maxwell O’Neal and Marshall O’Neal; daughter, Sonya Stewart and her husband, Shane of Auburndale, Florida and their family, Caleb Skinner, Austin Stewart and Avery Stewart. She was the youngest of nine children and she is survived by her sister, Sybil Burch of Haines City.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023 from 2:00 pm until the funeral at 3:00 pm at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Haines City.
