Obituary of Freddie Ted Johnson

Freddie Ted Johnson of Davenport, Florida passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 86 years old. Freddie was born on Tuesday, August 4, 1937, to Paul Lee and Lois M. Stone Johnson in Geraldine, Alabama and moved from there, with his family, when he was twelve years old to Davenport.

Freddie worked for some 50 years with McDonald Construction of Lakeland, Florida as a heavy equipment operator. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time in his garden, but he truly loved his time spent with his family.

He was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Lois; sons, Rodney Johnson, Gary Johnson and is sister, Patricia “Pat” Hayes. Freddie is survived by his wife, of 65 years, Virginia “Fay” Johnson; son, Ernest “Jeffery” Johnson of Davenport; daughters, Rhonda Johnson of Davenport and Kelly Johnson of Davenport; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at 10:00 am at Evergreen Cemetery in Davenport.  A reception will follow at 11:00 am at Tom Fellows Community Center 207 North Blvd. W.
