Obituary of Frances Reed

Frances A. Reed, 100 was born September 27, 1923 in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania. After high school she worked for Martin-Marietta Aircraft in Baltimore. She was not Rosie the Riveter, being Frances; meant being in charge, so she was a line supervisor. That trait carried over throughout her life. She met William C. Reed of Winter Haven while he was shipping out during WWII. They married in 1946 when he returned from Germany, having served with the Third Army. They moved to Winter Haven in 1951 and established a residential custom home building company. While raising a family, she was involved in the design, decorating and sales of new homes. In 1962 she joined Town & Country Realty and continued to work there well into her 90’s. Her experience in home building helped make her a top salesperson garnering many sales awards. She is survived by her sons, Bill Reed (Jan), Robert Reed (Cherri); daughter, Cheryl Whittington (Rick) of Bemidji, Minn; grandchildren, Ryan, Christopher, Brett, Renee, Jody and Justin; great grandchildren, Cade, Ryleigh, Ava, Taylor and Jake. Funeral Service will be held Friday October 6, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Winter Haven, Florida. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Vitas healthcare.
