Obituary of Marilou Mann

Marilou Mann, 80, of Winter Haven, Florida passed away on October 1, 2023 at Winter Haven Hospital. She was born on May 31, 1943 in Jackson, Michigan to Robert C. and Hilda Irene Patterson Gillett. Marilou relocated from Weidman, Michigan, to Florida two decades ago, she took on the role of a devoted homemaker and served as a Sunday school teacher for 40 years across different churches, leaving a lasting mark on the communities she touched. She was also an active member of Westside Baptist Church in Haines City and the Red Hat Society for 6 years.

Marilou found joy in the art of crafting, treasured exquisite jewelry, and had a passion for bingo. Her heart swelled with love as she spent precious moments with her grandchildren, often making heartfelt FaceTime calls to bridge any distance. The thrill of crime shows and soap operas never failed to light up her face. She was described as one of a kind by her friends, Marilou was adored by her tight-knit community of friends and family that surrounded her. Her patience and boundless love, especially for her Sunday kids, defined her character. She will be truly missed by all who loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Hilda; daughter, Lisa Draper; granddaughter, Carrie Becker; and several siblings. Marilou leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband, of 47 years, Richard Louis Mann; son, Jeff Draper of Wausau, WI; daughters, Dawn Rekowski and husband Bob of Tripoli, WI and Sue Rodman and husband Ken of Medford, WI; sister, Diane Snyder of Jackson, MI; eight grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Westside Baptist Church in Haines City, Florida with a reception immediately following.
