
Obituary of Virginia Johnson
Mary Virginia Harness Johnson, 94, of Haines City, Florida passed away on September 30, 2023, at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale, Florida with family by her side.
Born on December 21, 1928, in Clarksville, Tennessee to Howard Staton Harness and Louise Suiter Harness, Virginia grew up in Clarksville and graduated from Clarksville High School in 1947. She met her husband Willis H. Johnson, who was in the U.S. Army Paratroopers and stationed at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, in 1949. They were married in Springfield, Tennessee on June 29, 1951.
She was pre-deceased by her loving husband Willis, her parents and stepmother, and several siblings. She is survived by son Willis Alan, daughter Jan Shira (Scott), grandchildren Kyle Redden (Michael), Brian Johnson (Emily), Amber Stokes, great grandchildren Breck and Kodi Hurst Redden, Kooper Redden, Noah and Rachel Johnson, Ashton Shira, great great grandchild Colter Youman, and sister Barbara Wrenn (Paul).
Virginia lived in Haines City in the same home for 68 years. She and Willis were married for 66 years. She faithfully attended First Baptist / Northridge Church since moving to Haines City. She dearly loved her family, church family and friends, and doing things for others, always with a generous heart and spirit.
Visitation will be at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at Northridge Church in Haines City, followed by funeral and graveside services at 11:00 A.M., with Pastors Don Maiden and Jim Norman officiating. Immediately following there will be a lunch reception for family and friends at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Mrs. Johnson’s name be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 105 Arneson Avenue, Auburndale Florida 33823.
