Obituary of Lisa Osborne

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Lisa Nicole Osborne on September 12, 2023 from complications associated with Multiple Sclerosis at the age of 53, may she rest in peace. At the time of her passing, Lisa lived with her family in Davenport, Florida.

Born on October 11, 1969, in Brooklyn, New York, Lisa spent her formative years surrounded by family and relatives. She was loved by everyone. She was curious and intelligent from her earliest years and never ever lost her sense of wonder and joy in every thing around her. A day with Lisa was a day filled with questions and laughter.

Lisa was a devout Catholic. Her genuine faith in the teachings of the church was exemplified through her whole life. She attended Holy Cross Catholic School and St Francis of Assisi Catholic School during her time in elementary and middle school. She completed her high school education at Ansbach High School in Ansbach, Germany. Lisa was fluent in German and learned much from her life abroad.

Her college education was undertaken in both Trinity College and Siena College. She graduated with a degree in elementary education and taught at the elementary school level and also served at the New York State Education Department, Office of the Superintendent of US Schools.

Lisa was a born teacher. She attended the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Church in Albany New York, and was a Sunday School teacher there before her diagnosis led the family to seek expert treatment from a world renown doctor in Florida.

Lisa was a wonderful big sister to her siblings Richard and Trisha. Loving God and loving others were the ways she deliberately lived her life. Lisa’s MS diagnosis did not define her.  God gave her special grace to endure her sufferings. She was uncomplaining through the debilitating progression of the disease and continued to love, support and encourage her family through her ordeal. The bible verse that epitomizes her attitude to life can best be seen in the following verse from the book of Ephesians 4:31-32:

Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another even as God in Christ forgave you.

Lisa will be greatly missed by her family and relatives. She is survived by her mother Yvonne Connell, her brother, Richard Connell and her sister Trisha Connell.

Predeceased by her father Earl Osborne; her paternal grandparents, Samuel and Lillian Osborne. Predeceased by her maternal grandparents: Mildred Bennett and Rolly Joseph.

Maternal Aunts and uncles: Irving and Joan Joseph; Oswald and Emrice Joseph; Ruben and Robin Istatia
