Obituary of Adela G. Tijerina

Adela G. Tijerina, 90, of Haines City, Florida went to be with the Lord on October 7, 2023. Born June 30, 1933 in La Feria, Texas to Guadalupe Gonzalez and Antera Garcia. Adela made Florida her home in 1971 after relocating from Texas and she dedicated 20 years of her life as a caregiver for Redlands Christian Migrant HeadStart. She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Haines City, Florida.

Adela was a fantastic cook who had a special love for feeding others. She found joy in sewing and gardening and delighted in creating beautiful flower arrangements. Known for her strong yet loving nature, she had a great sense of humor that brightened everyone's day. Whether she be stern or funny, she took care of everybody.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Guadalupe and Antera. Adela leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband, of 70 years, Roman Tijerina; daughters, Yolanda Lopez of Haines City, FL, Marina Barrera and husband, Thomas of Rockdale, TX, Josefina Truett of Haines City, FL, and Patricia Fluty and husband,  Roger of Davenport, FL; sons, Enrique Tijerina and wife, Sandy of Bartow, FL and Ricardo Tijerina of Miami, FL; brothers, Julian and Juan Gonzalez of Texas; sisters, Lupita Martinez and Rosa Sauceda both of Harlingen, TX; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Her presence will be profoundly missed by those who were fortunate to know her.

A visitation will be held on Monday, October 16, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Haines City. The funeral mass will be at 11:00 a.m. at St Ann Catholic Church in Haines City followed by the committal service at Forest Hill Cemetery in Haines City, FL, where she will be laid to rest.
