Obituary of Catherine "Cathy" DeForest

Catherine "Cathy" DeForest, 71, of Haines City, Florida, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2023, at her daughter's residence. She was born on April 21, 1952, in Poughkeepsie, New York, to William W. and Madalene Slizewski Kisch.

Cathy relocated to Kissimmee in March 2021 from Gastonia, NC, and later moved with her daughter around December 2021 to Haines City, Florida. Over the course of her life, she dedicated 15 plus years to clerical work in schools, leaving a positive impact on the lives of many and held onto her Catholic faith throughout her life. She loved playing games on her tablet, crocheting, and spending time in the kitchen cooking and baking. Bowling brought her laughter and good times. She also enjoyed walks with her dogs but had a humorous dislike for chickens.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Madalene; siblings, Bill, Patricia, and Bobby Kisch. Cathy was survived by her daughters, Jennifer Vananden and husband, Douglas of Haines City, FL and Stacy Stanford and husband, Devin; brother, Joseph Kisch of Poughkeepsie, NY; sister, Terry Kisch Huckell of Poughkeepsie, NY; six grandchildren, Alexis, Anthony, Jordan, Angela, Bryan, Ben, Catherine Wallace, and Carla Wallace; four great grandchildren, Kayden, Peyton, Dakota and Skylyn; and extended family members, Brandon Good, George Nilson and Kortney Shettel. She will be truly missed by all.

Angela: “I’m going to miss u grandma we all are going to miss u, u was the best grandma and mother ever. At least you’re not in pain anymore and you’re not suffering anymore. I’m happy I got to say Goodbye to you and I’m happy that I said I love u and you said it back before you passed. We’re all grateful we got to say Goodbye to you, we are gonna miss you but you’ll never be forgotten, now you’re resting peacefully in heaven.
