Obituary of James Halpin

DAVENPORT, FLORIDA - James "Jimmy" Halpin of Davenport, Florida passed away on March 23, 2012 at his residence. He was 84. Mr. Halpin was born June 8, 1927 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Thomas and Elsie Kootcher Halpin and moved to Davenport in October of 2003 from Northfield, New Jersey. While in Philadelphia he owned and operated Jim's Tavern for fifteen years. Jimmy was a disabled veteran of WW II serving in the US Navy in the Pacific Islands and he was of the Catholic faith. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Somers Point, New Jersey, American Legion Post #400, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Post #10. Jimmy had a love for his pets and enjoyed keeping in touch with his family and friends as well as he was a master story teller, never meeting a stranger. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Thomas Halpin. Jimmy is survived by his wife, of thirty three years, Joanna Halpin; children, Joni Said and James M. Halpin; brother, Robert Halpin and sister-in-law, Paula Graham and husband Jeffrey. A Mass will be held Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 11 A.M. at St. Ann Catholic Church, Haines City, Florida with Father Robert Mitchell officiating.
