Obituary of William L. Swank

HAINES CITY - William L. "Bill" Swank, 90, a devoted family man, passed away on March 18, 2011 in Haines City, FL of cancer. Bill was a winter resident of Haines City and a summer resident of Hillsboro, OH. He was born March 17, 1922 in Richmond, IN to Lester and Oveta Lough Swank. Bill was a regional claims manager for The Hartford Insurance Co., servicing the southeast and the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, assisting with various forms of claims. He was a devout Christian self taught in biblical matters, who wrote biblical articles, which he sent to family and friends, who greatly appreciated them. Bill attended Pure Stream Fellowship in Haines City and Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene in Hillsboro. One of Bill's passions was bridge, matter of fact he enjoyed it so much that he taught it aboard the cruises in which he loved taking with his wife, Judy. In Ohio he enjoyed the family mini farm and all the animals and he volunteered at the Highland County Fair. In Bill's earlier days he was an avid golfer and Ham Radio operator. He is predeceased by his parents; first wife, Lois Rosemary Fagala; second wife, Eleanor Ann Tomlinson; son, Michael Alan Swank and a brother, Harold Swank. Bill is survived by his wife, of 8 years, Judith Ann Post Swank; son, Kenton Ray (Joan) Swank of Orlando, FL; step daughter, Angela Meredith (Roger) Abbott of Kernersville, NC; grandchildren, Ashley Michelle Swank, Celeste Nicole Swank, Stephen Dukes, Lisa Dukes, Teresa Lynn Brown and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 pm at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City and a funeral will be Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 10:30 am at the funeral home.
