Obituary of Ruth Johnson Collins

Ruth Johnson Collins March 6, 1929 - June 14 , 2012 Ruth Johnson Collins of Tequesta, FL passed away Thursday June 14th after a courageous battle with dementia. Ruth is survived by her loving children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ruth had an infectious, happy spirit, and a great sense of humor. Ruth was the youngest of 8 children, growing up in Brooklyn, NY. She was very fond of the bright lights and big city of New York. In summers, she commuted to Manhattan from Breezy Point and loved to share her love of the Dodgers with anyone who would listen. Ruth was also a big Mets fan and she cheered for Gil Hodges and the Mets when they won the World Series in 1968. Ruth and her husband Joe (deceased) raised their 5 children in Rockville Centre, N.Y.; surrounded by many friends and family. Upon retirement, they chose Tequesta, Fl as their home. Ruth was very involved with her church and community, family and friends and enjoyed her time at the beach. She enjoyed, golf crosswords, rug making and crafts. Ruth will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all of those whose lives she touched. A funeral mass will be held at St Judes Catholic Church, Tequesta, FL 10AM Monday, June 18, 2012 Thank you to those who assisted Ruth with her journey to everlasting life.
