Obituary of Alfred Joseph Hogan

Alfred Joseph Hogan, F.P.E., a nationally prominent fire safety expert and the son of the former Walter C. and Charlotte M. Sproules Hogan, died on 13 February 2013 from heart failure and cancer complications in Winter Haven FL. He was 88 years old and had lived in Winter Haven since 1966. He was born in Boston MA on 22 July 1924. During his lifetime, he held many professional positions, including as Building Inspector in the town of Canton MA and Fire Marshal, Fire Chief, and Chief Fire Protection Engineer for Florida's Reedy Creek Improvement District (Walt Disney World). As a Professional Fire Protection Engineer, registered in multiple states, he had operated an extensive consulting business since 1976. He was a lifetime member of the National Fire Protection Association, the Society of Fire Protection Engineers, and the International Association of Fire Marshals. He was also a longtime member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs and the New England Association of Fire Marshals. During WW II, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He leaves his wife of 60 years, Constance W. Fleischner Hogan, and their son, Alfred Robert Hogan, of College Park MD. Private family services will be held in Randolph MA, with burial at the Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree MA.
