Obituary of Robert W. Potter

Robert W. Potter, Sr. 9/24/41-4/16/2013 James 5:16 says, "Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much." On Tuesday, April 16th, around 9:25 a.m., Bob stepped into Heaven and is with his Lord and Savior! He is in the arms of Jesus. There is no doubt that he was welcomed by all of Heaven as he heard his Heavenly Father say, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant." For those who believe in Jesus Christ, death is not an ending, but rather a beginning. It is not defeat, but victory. Even though, we are saddened by this news, there is such joy in knowing that Bob has entered into perfect peace, perfect joy, and now stands in the presence of God Almighty! Bob will be greatly missed. Bobs family includes his wife Linda, and three children including; his son Robbie and wife Greta, son Geoff and wife Renee and daughter Becky who all reside in the Orlando area. He has six grandchildren; Adam (19), Victoria (18), Heather (16), Kyle (14), Amy (9), and Andy (3). His family also includes three siblings who currently live in their home state of Michigan; Fran Groleau, Julie Bather and Frank Potter. Bob was born in Detroit Michigan on September 24, 1941. He joined the U.S. Navy and served our country for four faithful years. He returned to Michigan to work for Ford Motor Company as an Engineer where he met his wife Linda. Bob later moved his family to Mississippi then to Florida where his family now resides. He was an entrepreneur at heart and provided a living for his family by being self- employed that included businesses such as; a pizza restaurant chain, pool deckings & screen enclosures and general construction companies. He was a general contractor, master mechanic, architect, and jack of all trades. He graduated from the International School of Seminary where he studied Theology. He served faithfully in the Men's Jail Ministry, leading countless people to the Lord since 1997. Bob has earned the credential of a Master Chaplain by National Chaplain Fellowship Ministries in 2013. During his retirement years, he worked for the Walt Disney World Company in Security. He loved boats, boat races, boat shows, skiing, swimming, diving, scuba diving, wave-running, watching wrestling on T.V. and mostly spending time with his family. Bob will be returning home to be laid to rest in the National Cemetery in Holly Michigan, later in June. He will be greatly missed and cherished by all who knew him.
