Obituary of Leon L Brown

Leon L. Brown, 86, of Winter Haven passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Tampa General Hospital due to heart failure. Born April 6, 1927 in Houston County Alabama, he moved to the area as a child. Graduated from Winter Haven High School, He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. having served during WWII; Attended Police Academies at Polk Community College & University of N Florida hired at Winter Haven Police Dept in March 1966. He was a member of the Auburndale Community Church; a member of the American Legion Post #8 in Winter Haven; and retired as a Lieutenant for the Winter Haven Police Department June 1, 1992. Preceded in death by his wife Amy; he is survived by a daughter, Janet Brown Davis of Winter Haven; a sister, Dorothy Scott of Sanford, FL; 3 step-sons, Dwight Bolton (Paula)of Texas, Larry Bolton (Darlene) of Haines City, FL and Joe Bolton (Patty) of Winter Haven; a step-daughter, Shirley Ray. Grandchildren, Brian Davis, Lisa Davis, Lisa Dorman, Tonya Bolton-Reynolds, Tyler Bolton & David Gainey. Great-grandchildren, Bryce Davis, Bronson Davis, & Macie Ray, with many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 10:00am till 11:00am, Friday, June 7, 2013 at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Winter Haven. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00am in the Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery In Haines City. In lieu of flowers please make Memorial Donations in his name to the Auburndale Community Church Building Fund, P.O.
