Obituary of Kenneth Gordon Morrish

AUBURNDALE - Kenneth Gordon Morrish, 96, of Haines City died Friday, June 14, 2013 of heart failure. He was born December 21, 1916 in Flint, Michigan to Mr. and Mrs. Bertrum Morrish. Mr. Morrish was raised in Flint, MI and graduated from Flint Central High School. Also known as the "Vitamin Man" he was an avid sports fan and participant. As a young man he played Semi-Pro baseball, baseball for the Army, and was an avid golfer hitting three holes in one during his lifetime. Mr. Morrish founded Ojibwa and Morrish Vitamin Company in Flint, Michigan and was one of the founders of Diamondback Golf Club in Haines City, FL. He served in the Army as a Forward Gunner on a P-4 aircraft called "Pistol Packin Mama" and was shot down receiving the Purple Heart. He was also a member of the Shriners and a strong supporter of Children's Shriner Hospital of Tampa, FL and the Genesee County Humane Society. Of all of his life accomplishments, Mr. Morrish was most proud of his family and will be deeply missed by all. Mr. Morrish was predeceased by his parents; wife Marion Laird Morrish; daughter Barbara Kay (Morrish) Burroughs; and sisters Dorothy Hendrickson and Vera Alick. He is survived by his son in law Jonathan E. Burroughs II and his wife Rosalind; grandsons Jonathan E. Burroughs III and his wife Tracy (Van Horn) and Jeffrey M. Burroughs and his wife Heather (Rice); and four great grandchildren. The family would like to express a special thank you to his long time caregivers Fran Wells and Amy Kingery. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 2PM at Oak Ridge Funeral Care Haines City.
