Obituary of Betty Jo Gray

WINTER HAVEN - Betty Jo Gray of Winter Haven passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at the Life Care Center from heart failure. She was 83. A native of Bartow, born October 8, 1929 to J.P. and Sara Bowles Murdaugh. Betty Jo lived in this area most of her life. She graduated from Winter Haven High School in 1947 and attended Florida State University. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church for 72 years, having served as a teacher, elder, designer and director of the Memorial Garden. Betty Jo is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, James W. Gray, Jr.; her two sons: James W. Gray, III (Daphne) of Winter Haven, and Edward Gray of Plant City; her grandchildren: Martha Seney (Mike), James W. Gray IV (Joanna), Major John Edward Gray, USA (Deanne) and Brandy Gray. Betty Jo also leaves behind her 5 great-grandchildren, Caitlin, Ryan, Kyle, Jackson and Delany. Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, June 18th at 11:00 at the First Presbyterian Church of Winter Haven. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Memorial Garden Fund at First Presbyterian Church of Winter Haven, 637 6th Street NW, Winter Haven, FL 33881.
