Obituary of James E. King
Major James E. King, US Army, (Ret.) of Haines City passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at his home. He was 91. A native of Dooley County, Georgia, born June 29, 1922 to James and Audrey Perdue King, James moved here in 1993 from Winter Springs, Florida. James first served in the US Navy during World War II, and after that he joined the Army, where he retired after a total of 20 years of service, including the Korean War Era. James was pre-deceased by a son James E. King. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Elvenia; his two sons: Stanley W. King of St. Cloud, and George O. King of Geneva; his daughter: Ann Marie Davis of Macon, GA; and his sisters: Dorothy Boyd of Warner Robbins, GA, Eloise Rickerson of Hawkinsville, GA, and Martha Bush of Macon, GA. James also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Sunday from 12 to 2:00 PM at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Winter Haven. Graveside services will full military honors will be Monday, 1:00 PM at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida. Condolences to the family can be sent to: www.oakridgefuneralcare.com.
