Obituary of Michael Dion DeChambeau

Michael D. "Mickey" DeChambeau, age 60, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at home due to cardiac arrest. Michael was born on September 3, 1953 in Winter Haven, Florida to Ferdinand H. & Helen Belle (Showman) DeChambeau. He lived in the Winter Haven area all of his life. After graduating from Winter Haven High School in 1971, he received an Associate of Arts Degree from Polk Community College in 1976, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance from Florida Southern College in 1982 and a Master of Science Degree in Administration from Central Michigan University in 2001. Over the years he was a volunteer with the Jan Phyl Village Fire Department, The American Red Cross, the Ritz Theatre and the Polk County Sheriff's Office. In addition to being an active member of Southland Lodge No. 256, Free & Accepted Masons of Florida, he was a Past Master of Eastside Lodge No. 382, F & AM, Past High Priest of Thomas Brown Chapter No. 22, Royal Arch Masons of Florida, Past Commander of Winter Haven Commandry No. 37, Past Grand Sword Bearer and twice the Past District Deputy Grand Commander of the 4th Chivalric District of the Grand Commandry of Knights Templar of Florida. He was a commissioned Colonel in the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels and a Past Monarch and "Doctor of Smiles" of Sesame Grotto, Grottoes of North America. Michael was Owner/President of DeChambeau's Wedding and Video Service, performing and videoing many weddings and other special events in the Winter Haven area. Throughout the years he married hundreds of local and foreign couples at the famous beautiful Cypress Gardens where he was once assigned the duties of Wedding Director by founder, Dick Pope, Sr. Michael is survived by wife, Deborah L. (Korpa) DeChambeau, and his daughter, Dr. Amber N. (Jason) DeChambeau-Bragg, his sister Nancy K. (Arnold) Webb, Sr., sister-in-law Elisabeth A. (Gilbert) Olinger, three nieces, two nephews, two great nieces and one great nephew. Visitation will be held on December, 21, 2013 (Saturday) from 2:00-3:00 P.M. at Oak Bridge Funeral Care, located at 2425 Havendale Boulevard, Winter Haven, FL, with Christian and Masonic Funeral Services to follow at 3:00 P.M. Interment will be at the Rolling Hills Cemetary in Winter Haven following the services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Humanitarian Foundation for Dental Care for Children with Special Needs (http://www.hfgrotto.org/products-page614-933-0771) or your local chapter of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).
