Obituary of Leonard Robert Touchton

Leonard Robert Touchton, 81 of Lakeland, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2014 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center and his cause of death is pending. Born February 6, 1932 to Levin and Annie Bennett Touchton in Winter Haven, FL, he was a graduate of Winter Haven High School and served in the U.S. Army before spending 14 years in the U.S. Navy, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. In addition to his military service, he attended Florida State University, Polk Community College in Florida and Orange Coast College in California. Also, he was a law enforcement officer for the police department in the city of Costa Mesa and a deputy sheriff in the county of Santa Clara, both in California. Later in life, he worked for the Winter Haven Police Department. He was Southern Baptist by faith, worked in property management, and overall, an entrepreneur. Preceded in death by his parents, he is survived by: his wife of 33 years, Nila and their daughter, Valerie Touchton, Ruskin, FL; the children from his previous wife, Winona: 2 sons, Stephen E. (Susan) Touchton of Valdosta, GA and Keith E. (Theresa) Touchton of (West Des Moines, IA); 2 daughters, Jody L. (Sonny) Touchton Grimmett of Christiana, TN, Tricia L. (Steve) Touchton Frazier of Lake Wales, FL; 1 step-son,; 2 step-daughters; a brother, Leon Touchton of Jacksonville, FL; a sister, Sarah (Rick) Touchton Daniel of Winter Haven, FL; 2 granddaughters; 6 step-grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and 2 step-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm till 2:00pm, Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Winter Haven. Funeral Services will begin at 2:00pm in the Funeral Home Chapel.
