Obituary of David E. Stamey

David E. Stamey of Winter Haven passed away Sunday, February 16, 2014 at the Winter Haven Hospital from liver failure. He was 69. A native of Winter Haven, born November 14, 1944 to Huey and Agnes Stamey, David has lived here his entire life. He was a retired Maintenance Mechanic, having worked a combined total of forty years for Birdseye, a division of General Foods, and Universal Forest Products. David was a US Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War, and he was a Baptist. David is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Rita; his son, David E. Stamey, Jr. (Jean); his daughters: Cheryl Ferguson (Greg) and Shelley Elliott (Doug), all of Winter Haven; and his sisters: Minnie Kohler and Vera Harbuck of Polk City, and Vivian Parker of Winter Haven. David also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. There will be a gathering of friends from 2 to 3 PM Friday at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Winter Haven.
