Obituary of Norma S. Hannon

Norma S. Hannon, 87 of Haines City, passed away peacefully after a brief stay at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale Sunday, May 11, 2014. She was born July 7th, 1926, in Sodus, New York to Albert and Elizabeth Snyder. In 1945 she moved to West Palm Beach, where she met her husband and later settled in Haines City. Norma was very active in the community. Mrs. Hannon was a founding member of The N.E. Polk County Community Service Center in the late 1960's. Mrs. Hannon was a founding member of the HC Community Theater and board member and actress in many plays, which she enjoyed. She was active with Friends of the Library and a board member. She was of Catholic faith and taught CCD and was board member of Altar and Rosary Society. Mrs. Hannon enjoyed gardening, sewing, fishing, tennis and reading. Mrs. Hannon was an ovarian cancer survivor and participated in Haines City Relay for Life. Mrs. Hannon also worked several years in her Daughter Molly's shop in Lake Alfred which she so enjoyed. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Dr. Chancellor I. Hannon, infant son Michael D. Hannon and son -in -law James S. Young. She is survived by children, Chris Hannon, PA, Mimi Bamberger (Craig) Bedford N.H. , Katy H. Young, Lithia FL, Molly Hannon-Martin (Howard) Haines City and grandchildren Blake and Marla Young and Charlotte Bamberger. Visitation will be Friday from 5 - 7 PM at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City and a funeral mass will be Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 10 AM at St Ann Catholic Church. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Vincent de Paul, St Ann Catholic Church Haines City or Good Shepherd Hospice, Auburndale Florida.
