HAROLD M. " SKI" PAWLOWSKI 83 USMC - RETIRED Harold M. "Ski" Pawlowski, 83, of Auburndale, FL passed away on Friday, August 8, 2014 ay Consulate Health Care in Winter Haven, FL due to pancreatic cancer. Harold was born in Portland, ME, son of the late Adolph and Mildred Pawlowski on 01/26/1931. He was a graduate of Portland High School, Portland, ME. His first job was delivering telegrams by bicycle, for Western Union located at Monument Square in Portland. He worked for the A&P Warehouse for 20 years, until the company warehouse was moved to Boston, MA. He was a member of Teamster, Local 340. Harold also worked for the Maine Youth Center, in South Portland, ME as an admitting officer for 17 years. Harold loved hunting with his brothers, and shared a lot of stories and laughs. Harold was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Winter Haven, FL at the time of his death. In Maine he was a member of Saint Louis Catholic Church in Portland, ME and former President, Vice President and Secretary of the Holy Name Society. He was a member of the American Legion Post #2, Augusta, ME. Harold was also a member of Portland Elks Lodge #188 and served as visiting Elk, going to local hospitals and nursing homes to see members who were ill. Harold retired as a 1st Sgt. from the United States Marine Corps Reserve , and served in Korea with the 1st Marine Division in making the Inchon Landing to the Chosin Reservoir , Sept. 15, 1950. He retired after completing 24 years of service. He leaves his wife, Patricia Ronan Pawlowski; Two daughters, by his first marriage, Kathleen Sprackland and her husband Mark, their children, Nicole, Abigale and Nathan. Also Ann Elkanich and her husband Kurt, their son, Craig Elkanich and his wife Becky. Harold also leaves several nieces and nephews, and his faithful companion, of 18 years, his Shih Tzu, Toby. His 3 brothers, Joseph, William, "Vin" and Edward, and a sister, Sophie Zeldon, all preceded him in death. There will be a graveside service at Calvary Cemetery, South Portland, ME where Harold will be laid to rest. Condolences may be sent at www.oakridgefuneralcare.com
