Obituary of Gilbert David Kromer

Gilbert David Kromer, 17, of Auburndale, FL passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Tampa General Hospital following a brief illness. Born November 6, 1996 in Columbus, OH and grew up in Sandusky/Castalia, OH where he attended St. Mary Central Catholic School. He moved to Florida 3 years ago and was a student at Santa Fe Catholic High School in Lakeland, where he was the captain of the football team and played basketball. He was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church in Winter Haven. He loved his family and friends, loved animals, helping his father and making people laugh. Preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Gilbert Kromer, he is survived by: his parents, Leslie "Homer" and Holly Kromer of Auburndale; a sister, Haley Kromer of Auburndale; 2 brothers, Michael Kromer of Marietta, OH and John Kromer of Auburndale; his paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Kromer of Sandusky, OH; his maternal grandparents, David and Katherine Swank of Weeki Wachee, FL; and his girlfriend, Allie Arronda. The family will receive friends from 5:00pm till 8:00pm, Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Winter Haven. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am, Friday, October 17, 2014 at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Winter Haven. In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations in his name to Santa Fe Catholic High School, 3110 Us Highway 92 E, Lakeland, FL 33801.
