Obituary of James Earl Burge

James Earl Burge, 72, of Winter Haven, was called home on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at Winter Haven Hospital. Born April 1, 1942 in Sweet Water, Alabama he moved here 14 years ago from Alabama. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and retired from the US Army after 33 years of service to the country and also was retired from Advanced Auto Parts. James was a member of the Westwood Missionary Baptist Church in Winter Haven and the American Legion. He never met a stranger and helped everyone in need throughout his life. He is survived by: his wife of nearly 3 years, Ann; and his loving family, Douglas Jens Maynard ,his wife Linda, and grandchildren, Craig Alan, Stacey Lynn, Byron Jens and Amanda Maynard; Erik Jacob Maynard, his wife Janna, and Stephen Lucas, Leigha Magdalene; and longtime brother and sister in Christ, Gerald & Cathy Smith. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, October 16, 2014 at the Westwood Missionary Baptist Church.
