Obituary of Eugene Whitaker

Eugene "Gene" Whitaker, 85, passed away on November 4, 2014 after battling cancer. Born on May 31, 1929, in Haines City, he was a hard worker and enjoyed spending time with his family on the weekends. He loved to fish, hunt, watch NASCAR races, and drink coffee with the men at NAPA. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Bonnie of Haines City; children Barbara & Wilbert Brown of Cape Coral, Glenda & Bill Sanderson of Asheville, North Carolina, Terri & Kenneth Whitehead of Davenport, and Michael & Carol Williams of Lake Alfred; grandchildren Bill & Alison, Chris, Angela, Crystal, Ronnie & Amy, Robert & Danika, Timmy, Brandy, and Aaron; and 17 great-grandchildren. Visitation begins at 10am on Saturday, November 8, at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Haines City. The funeral service begins at 11am with the burial at Forest Hill Cemetery after.
